I'm a bit late with this, but I never worry too much about being late with new music, this time it's Uncle Rock, who posted some new tracks on his Myspace page. Uncle Rock is more willing to throw out his musical experiments for your enjoyment than a lot of kids artists, and here they're demos he's recording for tracks on his next album. "There Is No Away" is an atmospheric story song, "Buddy Holly Has the Hiccups" is about as silly/historical as you'd expect, an updated "Garbage Barge," and more. I'm guessing a more environmental vibe and more of a explicit tip of the cap to his musical predecessors on the next go-round.
Also, there's some more music at Uncle Rock's ReverbNation page I haven't before heard "A Very Good Question," which that poses the question "What if I woke up with purple skin?" It is indeed a very good question. And a very good song.
A Whole Slew of Uncle Rock Videos
Fresh off his Austin Kiddie Limits weekend, Uncle Rock is coming out with his first DVD -- Number 1 DVD: Live From Kidtopia & Video Arcade -- very soon, and has posted a whole bunch of video clips from the DVD on his YouTube page. The DVD will feature 30 minutes of his live show from Kidtopia; 5 videos, including the great "Picnic in the Graveyard" and two new videos ("Playin' Possum" and "Nothin' Doin'"); and some extras. Look for it on sale in January.

Austin Kiddie Limits 2008 Preview: Uncle Rock
In the days leading up to the 2008 edition of the Austin City Limits Festival, I'm going to be giving brief previews of the artists who will be playing the Austin Kiddie Limits stage. This is the second in the series (Buck Howdy with BB's preview is here).

Uncle Rock (AKA Robert Burke Warren), from upstate New York, plays all-ages roots rock. But he doesn't limit himself just to straight-ahead roots rock. His latest album, Uncle Rock U., shows Warren's willingness to assume character personas in song, play homage to James Brown, and generally have lots of fun. Given his background playing bass for the Fleshtones and portraying Buddy Holly in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, it should be a solid live show.
Uncle Rock kicks off the AKL stage on Friday at 11:30, and plays Saturday at 12:30 as well.

Concert Series Abounding
