Radio Playlist: New Music May 2014

As we head into Memorial Day, we move into one of the big times of the year, kids' music-wise, just before summer.  Lots of great songs to choose from.  (You can see the April playlist here).

As always, it's limited in that if an artist hasn't chosen to post a song on Spotify, I can't put it on the list, nor can I feature songs from as-yet-unreleased albums.  But I'm always keeping stuff in reserve for the next Spotify playlist.

Check out the list here or go right here if you're in Spotify.

Share: Mother's Day 2014 Playlist (free music!)

Ten tracks of maternal kindie goodness from a variety of artists, courtesy of them and kindie publicist Beth Blenz-Clucas.  The Not-Its, Lisa Loeb, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band, Brady Rymer, Danny Weinkauf (with Laurie Berkner), Zee Avi, the Okee Dokee Brothers, and Suzi Shelton offer up some mom-related tracks in time for Mother's Day.  Includes tracks from forthcoming albums like those from the Okee Dokee Brothers, the Not-Its, and Brady Rymer, too, so even if you don't care about downloading because you've already supported some kindie musicians, there's some new goodness to enjoy as well.

Download the tracks for free by clicking on the individual track and then on "View track."  But do it quickly, 'cause it's only up for a week or so!

(And, as always, please get your mom something besides free mp3s!)

Weekly Summary (4/21/14 - 4/27/14)

OK, a little more productive this week.  Me, anyway, on the site.  Don't know about you, or your kids.  Of course, a productive week on the site might make it a less productive (albeit it more enjoyable) week for your family.

KidVid Tournament 2012: Lucky Diaz vs. Suzi Shelton

It's time for the second matchup in the KidVid Tournament 2012 Final Four.

This matchup features the only #1 seed to make all the way through to here -- the Leadbelly Region winner's Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band's "Blue Bear" -- fighting against another true (if tomboy-ish) Cinderella squad, Suzi Shelton's "Tomboy in a Princess Dress," the #8 seed which won the Pete Seeger Region.

So, watch both videos below -- even if (especially if) you came here intending to vote for a specific video. One vote per family by 8:30 PM West Coast time tonight.  Once again, play nice, y'all -- this isn't worth getting hot'n'bothered about.  Most importantly, have fun!

KidVid Tournament 2012: Week 2 Summary

KidVid Tournament 2012It was an even more exciting second week of action in KidVid Tournament 2012, with brackets busted everywhere.  Week 3 promises more fun than you can shake a stick at, though why you'd shake a stick at fun is beyond me, because if I were fun I'd be scared of families shaking sticks at me.

Aaaanyway, Elite Eight matchups are as follows...

Woody Guthrie Region
#4 Princess Katie & Racer Steve - "Sand in My Sandwich" vs. #6 Imagination Movers - "Everybody Sing"

The winner of the Woody Guthrie Region meets the winner of the...

Ella Jenkins Region

#5 Gustafer Yellowgold "Pancake Smackdown" vs. #6 Todd McHatton - "I Think I'm a Bunny"

Leadbelly Region
#1 Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band - "Blue Bear" vs. #3 Rocknoceros - "Early Worm"

The winner of the Leadbelly Region will take on the winner of the...

Pete Seeger Region
#2 The Pop Ups - "Balloon" vs. #8 Suzi Shelton - "Tomboy in a Princess Dress"

As with last week's entries, this week's competition will place across teh Internets at many of these fine websites who can meet most if not all of your family's kids music needs.
